Clinton Valley Council’s Partnership with the Pontiac School District
An Investment in Youth 2005-2006
- The In School Scouting program is a partnership created fourteen years ago between the Pontiac School District, the Girl Scouts of Metro Detroit, and the Clinton Valley Council Boy Scouts. Staff from all three organizations worked together to develop curriculum and program delivery. The Clinton Valley Council Boy Scouts have carried the program into 2005-2006 in partnership with the PSD.
- Through this partnership 2988 kindergarten through fifth grade students were serviced with the curriculum-based, character-building education programs of In School Scouting and Learning for Life.
- In 2005-2006 we will service students at Crofoot, Alcott, Owen/Kennedy, Longfellow, Perdue, Pontiac Academy for Excellence, Webster, Whitman, and WHRC.
- Clinton Valley Council invests over $170,000 annually for the Learning for Life and In School Scouting programs in the City of Pontiac. This is the investment cost for program supplies, recognition materials, camp rental, registration fees and Program Instructors.
- Clinton Valley Council Program Instructors invest well over 5,500 hours of program planning and delivery during the school year.
- The following companies, foundations and organizations provide financial support to the Clinton Valley Council for the In School Scouting Program: Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Carls Foundation, Chamberlain Foundation, Charity Motors, Convergence Education Foundation, DTE Energy Foundation, Herrick Foundation, Marshall Fields, Oakland County United Way, Pontiac Rotary, United Way Community Services.
- The Clinton Valley Council organizes two community events to promote In School Scouting. The Rally for the Scouts and Scouts Unlimited Dinner are held in October. A few of the companies and organizations that support these events are BOSCH, DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund, GMAC, Hella North America, Siemens VDO, and TRW.
- The Clinton Valley Council looks forward to a continued partnership with the Pontiac School District for the 2005-2006 school year.

The In School Scouting District encomapsses a variety of non-traditional programming in the Pontiac and Mt. Clemens areas. Through many community partnerships we provide services to at-risk youth either through programming during the regular school day, after school Cub Scout packs or latchkey activities, and athletic programs. The Clinton Valley Council's In School District is ready to help fill the need wherever it may be!
